The innovative product range includes steel tubes for a wide variety of applications with a large number of different steel grades as well as an extensive range of outer coatings, cladding, and linings. A sophisticated logistics concept ensures proper and safe transport and an efficient logistics chain – from the plant in Siegen or Hamm to the agreed destination. Special emphasis is placed on keeping the impact on the environment caused by greenhouse gas emissions as low as possible.

For over 100 years, Mannesmann Line Pipe’s HFI-welded steel pipes have stood for top quality and safety – made in Germany.

For quality control at the production site in Hamm, Germany, the company relies on LIMS software from Fink & Partner to interface the Bruker spectral analyzer with its in-house PDA system.

Top-quality and safety for numerous industries

Professional quality management is indispensable, especially in steel pipe production, where safety aspects are one of the key issues. For Mannesmann Line Pipe, quality means far more than precision craftsmanship. Constant quality control and optimization of the product range are among the core tasks of the entire workforce. The quality standard also includes always being up to date in all areas. This includes highly trained employees and working with state-of-the-art machines and innovative technologies. Only in this way is the company able to recognize technological trends at an early stage and help shape innovations.

The basis for high quality at all levels is an integrated management system that defines qualitative requirements and precisely monitors compliance. The effective quality assurance system ensures consistently high quality and ranges from materials testing to certification.

All work processes, including all quality assurance measures, are documented in the “Quality Management” chapter of the Integrated Management Handbook (IMH) and in corresponding instructions. They are subjected to continuous testing to ensure the high quality of steel tubes and services on a permanent basis. In order to provide proof of compliance with quality management, the company is regularly certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001 and numerous national and international regulations.

Mannesmann Line Pipe relies on [FP]-LIMS for product analysis

Chemical composition tests are not only completed at Mannesmann Line Pipe as part of the specified standard requirements for product analysis but a large number of production-related internal tests and examinations are also carried out in order to ensure process reliability of production beyond customer requirements.

Both sites in Hamm and Siegen have been equipped with an extensive range of measuring and testing technologies. Extensive tests are carried out during each processing stage to check again and again whether the pipe meets the specifications in all essential characteristics. In addition to length, diameter, wall thickness, and weight, the mechanical-technological properties of the steel, the tightness of the pipes, the layer thickness and quality of the coating, and other properties are checked in particular.

All spectral analysis results are automatically transferred to the PDA system via the LIMS and regularly statistically evaluated. On this basis, preventive measures are initiated to ensure the high quality of the processes from the starting material to the end product.

Professional data management also plays an essential role for the company in the context of Industry 4.0. Mannesmann Line Pipe has recognized that Industry 4.0 and digitalization are crucial aspects for the future of manufacturing companies. The LIMS from Fink & Partner thus makes a significant contribution to the future viability of the internationally recognized steel pipe producer.
